Challenge:
Real Estate Agent Tammy Higgs had decided that a web presence would help her promote her new career as an agent for Royal LePage. Tammy wanted a friendly, inviting, and informative presence online, and also wanted to emphasise her personality and honesty. She decided on the name “South Simcoe Homes†to emphasise the area she was specializing in, and developed a number of helpful hints and tips in the form of “Top Ten Listsâ€. Tammy opted to go small for her first adventure on the web, deciding to not place listings or tours on her site. Tammy also hoped that she could gain a reasonable ranking on major search engines to draw users to her new site.
Tammy opted to go small for her first adventure on the web, deciding to not place listings or tours on her site. Tammy also hoped that she could gain a reasonable ranking on major search engines to draw users to her new site.
Solution:
Along with fellow developer Andre Forget, we designed and implemented a standards compliant website that captured the inviting, honest feel that Tammy was looking for. While testing , Tammy was surprised to realize that she could actually receive her customer requests for information directly from the web site to her cell phone and pager…..making communication much quicker.
The Top Ten lists were developed as a major draw for the site and remained prevalent on all pages. Content was organized into PHP includes and fed into the main page via dynamic links. Meta-content and body content were optimized so that search bots would likely rank the site high with user keyword searches.
A week after launch, South Simcoe Homes was ranked 3rd on Yahoo.ca and 30th on MSN.ca.
